Faces of Nairobi Women exhibition opens in Nairobi as Kenya Airways offers cheaper fares. What a combination!
If you can’t recognise faces, especially those of women, an exhibition of portraits of women that opens in Nairobi on August 12, 2015 is here to assist you along. Especially on how to recognise a Nairobi woman.
Titled merely as Faces and created by Michael Soi, an artist considered ‘controversial’ in some circles, the 12-day show at Circle Art Agency Gallery in Nairobi’s Lavington Green neighbourhood shall feature a new series of 18 previously unseen paintings.
The 1972-born Soi who studied at Creative Arts Centre and honed his skills at Kuona Art Trust in Nairobi, exhibits widely. His ‘notorious’ paintings showing the ‘Circus of Life’ of his home town, Nairobi, are reported to have become known worldwide. Soi is perceived to be unafraid in tackling issues such as politics, corruption, prostitution, hypocrisy, big business and the economy in his work.
Circle Art Agency invites art lovers and collectors not only to the Faces exhibition but to also come prepared to take home with them “an original Soi at an affordable price.”
Meanwhile national carrier, Kenya Airways, says it is introducing ‘cheaper’, ‘affordable’ or ‘discounted’ fares for travellers who book their flights at least 42 days before their date of travel.
Fares, Kenya Airways says, get higher if the passenger purchases closer to one’s travel dates, regardless of whether flights are wide open. So, KQ advises, get the early bird advantage: purchase your air ticket not less than 42 days before your actual travel date to qualify for the lower fares.
And, oh, before I forget: KQ is “also introducing on certain routes other conditions such as having to spend a Sunday at your destination to get the better fare, and others which only qualify if purchased in advance,” says Uniglobe Travel.
