A Smartphone with a fully-embedded Kiswahili menu has been launched in Tanzania ahead of the Christmas season.
The Techno Y3 Smartphone with a fully-embedded Kiswahili menu has been released as an offer to enable customers of Tigo “to share with their beloved ones all the wonderful moments associated with Christmas and New year holidays.”
Announcing the new offer at a press function in Dar es Salaam, Diego Gutierrez, the General Manager of the mobile service provider, Tigo, said the new Smartphone will be sold in all Tigo outlets and agencies for Sh99,000. Gutierrez said theirs was the first ever smartphone with Kiswahili menu to be released into the market.
The offer, known as ‘Wagfitishe’, shall enable “Tigo customers to enjoy to the fullest the coming festive season,” Gutierrez said.
â€œWe believe this offer will enable many Tigo customers enjoy the benefits of smartphones including access to the Internet, which is in line with our commitment to promote digital lifestyle transformation. I appeal to the customers, particularly those travelling upcountry for family reunion to take advantage of the offer and carry the special gift to their loved ones,â€ Gutierrez said.
Customers buying the Smartphone will enjoy a free six-months package of 2GB and airtime worth Sh10,000 to call all networks for the first month while there will be a free Sh10,000 worth of airtime for the second to the sixth month for customers recharging Sh5,000 for Tigo to Tigo network.
The new Smartphone is said to be coming with unique special features that include an extended battery life, a dual SIM, 8GB memory and a 2M pixel camera.
