Lola Kenya ScreenAbout Lola Children’s Screen KenyaLola Kenya Screen (aka Lola Kenya Children’s Screen) is an annual festival, market and production workshop for children and young adults. Lola Kenya Screen, whose first name is derived from the widely spoken African Bantu language word meaning ‘watch’, ‘see’ or ‘look’, seeks to cultivate sustainable audiences for cinema, inculcating in people the culture of producing quality films, and watching and marketing audiovisual productions. It focuses on films of all genres. DatesThe first edition of Lola Kenya children’s Screen will run August 7-12, 2006, in Nairobi. Film entry DEADLINE is April 15, 2006. ObjectivesTo build an audience for films by encouraging audience-sensitive films To develop a film resource centre to benefit seekers of information on cinema To train young talents to further their expertise in film art To produce quality, low-budget, short films annually from training workshops To hold monthly film fora for players in the audiovisual media sector for networking AwardsInitially, awards will be presented to Best Short Film, Best Children’s Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Audience’s Favourite Film.
