An inaugural film event has just ended in Mozambique.
Dubbed Mossuril Film Festival, the event was held August 7-10, 2014 and attracted more than 1500 people to its open-air and in-door screenings in Mozambique Island and Mossuril in northern Mozambique, according to a media statement from breakingtheice.org.

“More than 1500 people watched more than a dozen films in four languages in both districts, with local Macua production MITHORI (Tears) proving to be particularly popular with local audiences,” the statement says.
Among the films screened at at the Old Fort on Ilha de Mocambique and the main cinema venue in the district of Mossuril were THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY (Brisa de Mudanca) by British director Ken Loach, LAST FLIGHT OF THE FLAMINGO by Mozambican director Joao Ribeiro and MITHORI (Tears).

The sponsors of the four-day festival, according to breakingtheice.org, included INAC (national film institute), Vodacom, Kugoma, Teran Foundation, Breaking the Ice, Rio Film Festival, MICT, British Council, Pearl of Mozambique, Irish Embassy and more than 35 individuals in eight countries through crowdfunding.
