Davos usually plays host to the world’s most powerful politicians and business leaders every January for the World Economic Forum where solutions to the world’s problems are discussed.
It is from here that BBC World News’ The World Debate comes live on January 22, 2016 at 1000 GMT.

A high level panel including Federica Mogherini (European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs & Security); David Miliband (President & CEO of the International Rescue Committee); Emmanuel Macron (Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs, France); and Witold Waszczykowski (Minister of Foreign Affairs, Poland) shall debate the continuing crisis at Europe’s borders as it tries to control the influx of migrants and refugees.
“The World Debate: Davos: Europe at a Tipping Point?”, that is presented by Lyse Doucet (Chief International Correspondent BBC World News), is scheduled for broadcast live on BBC World News (1000 GMT, Friday, January 22) and BBC World Service (2000 GMT. Saturday January 23); it is expected to examine whether Europe’s passport-free open borders can survive in their current form.
For this debate moderator Doucet will be joined by a panel of political leaders and opinion-shapers in debating whether European solidarity is being put to the test as the countries struggle to agree on common solutions.
