In a letter of acknowledgement signed by Silverse Anami, the Director of Culture in the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, says ArtMatters.Info plays an “invaluable contribution in â€ªâ€Ždisseminating informationâ€¬ and creating an essential â€ªâ€Žbridge between the artsâ€¬, culture, â€Žmedia and developmentâ€¬ agencies.”
Anami says “The linkages ArtMatters.Info has created . . . have enhanced â€ªâ€Žinclusive participationâ€¬ in the â€ªdevelopment of arts and cultureâ€¬ as a â€ªfundamental resource for sustainable developmentâ€¬.”
Consequently, the Directorate of Culture encourages “artists, â€ªâ€Žcultural practitionersâ€¬, â€ªâ€Žpolicymakersâ€¬. and development agenciesâ€¬ to visit â€ªâ€ŽArtMattersInfoâ€¬ . . .to experience the viability of this network and share its â€ªâ€Ždiversity and visionâ€¬.”
The Nairobi-based ArtMatters.Info was founded in 2002 to document and highlight good practice in Anglophone Kenya and East Africa’s culture and the arts sector.
Fourteen years later in 2016, ArtMatters.Info is a full-fledged news site that proudly and unapologetically flaunts the Creative and Cultural (lifestyle) side of the entire mother continent: Africa.
