Africa Centre's Artists In Residency (AIR) Programme logoA residency programme for artists in Africa is open for application till October 15, 2018.

The residency, known as Artists in Residency (AIR), is available to innovative, provocative and socially conscious visual and performance artists, curators, composers, fiction and nonfiction writers, playwrights, poets, moviemakers as well as artists working in digital forms.

The organisers of AIR, Africa Centre of Cape Town, South Africa, say “Each residency award has a distinct structure, set of requirements and duration. The costs of the residency and round-trip airfare are included in each residency award made.”

Africa Centre, that says it has over the past seven years of AIR awarded 69 artists with residency opportunities around the globe, say “Residencies for early to mid-career African Artists who predominantly live and work on the continent include Bundanon Trust in Australia, Instituto Sacatar in Brazil, Fountainhead Residency and International Studio Curatorial Program both in the USA. We are also accepting applications from mid to late career, highly accomplished artists for residencies at the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center located on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.”
