Mustafa Hassanaliof Tanzania has unveiled his Spring and Summer 2006 collection at the Nokia Cape Town Fashion Week (August 10-13, 2005) on 12 August 2005.

As is his trademark, his creations were made from the traditional Swahili two-piece wrap known as the khanga in East Africa and from printed African fabrics. The collection spots an array of bold colours along a simple pastel of cream and white. The ball gowns have up to eight layers of fabrics whilst the corsets are sensually well cut items, with a touch of glamour added to it by the use of various gemstones and glitter. With his 2006 collection on the theme that ‘Less is more,’ Hassanali’s jewellery collection comprises chandelier one and two-tier earrings made by traditional Maasai women in contemporary style and the necklaces which have been created from beach shells hand-crocheted to give a simple yet elegant feel with a touch of glitter to it.
