Ally Rehmtullah, Tanzania’s ‘new kid on the block’ of fashion design, showcased his new five-piece collection, Just Pink, in Dar es Salaam, on February 8, 2008. OGOVA ONDEGO writes.
Rehmtullah had been invited to exhibit his work during Asia Idarous’s Lady in Red show.
At the end of the event based on glamour, elegance, style and pink, Asia Idarous recognised Ally Rehmtullah (whose work features frequently in ArtMatters.Info since 2007) as “Top Designer 2007/2008 in Tanzania.”
Though he has practised fashion design for just a year, Rehmtullah, who moved back to Tanzania in September 2006 after graduating from Lehigh College in Pennsylvania, USA,is attracting lots of attention.
