As South Africa prepares for the 10th Cape Town International Jazz Festival on April 3 – 4, 2009, it appears the festival mood is coming earlier than expected with Australia’s platinum-selling singing sensation, The Ten Tenors, set to wow both the Mother City and the City of Gold with their latest show, Nostalgica. With two performances only, OGOVA ONDEGO writes, the shows take place on March 28, 2009 and April 3, 2009 at Cape Town’s Grand Arena and Johannesburg’s Big Top Arena, respectively.
According to Christien Coetzee of Muse Events SA, music lovers in South Africa are expected to be readying themselves for “a toe-tapping musical journey with ten vocal power houses, treating them to superb new arrangements of famous hit melodies. Included in the programme are songs made famous by Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, all the way through to The Beatles and Queen. Definite highlights are their spot-on tributes to the Rock n Roll and Disco eras which had their European fans dancing in the aisles during their current world tour.”
The Ten Tenors, known for having loads of fun on stage, are expected to not only delight with their usual sparkle and awesome harmonies but to also guarantee an evening of world class entertainment.
Coetzee says The Ten Tenors will perform in the Grand Arena at Grand West Casino in Cape Town on March 28 and in the Big Top Arena at Carnival City Casino in Johannesburg on April 3. Bookings are open at Computicket on 083 915 8000 or www.computicket.com.

Though marketed as a jazz event, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF)–that was in June 2006 ranked 13th out of the top 100 music festivals of all genres in the world by Melodytrip that also gave it 4th position in international jazz festivals–offers many more genres of music: Afro-pop, soul, funk, blues, Latin and hip-hop.
