Florence Matshediso Mholo (better known as Tshedi among her fans) is an artist, singer, songwriter and social activist whose life can be described as more than busy if the following sample schedule is any barometer: May 1 (Harare International Festival of the Arts, Zimbabwe); May 9 (South Africa Presidential Inauguration concert); May 16 (SABC2 Dorp to Dorp, Mafikeng, South Africa); May 20 (Edenvale, South Africa); and May 23 (Stratford, UK). Despite this, Tshedi, the lead singer of the award-winning South African afro-pop group, Malaika, finds time to share her thoughts “in writing” with other women out there:
All things wise and wonderful
The Lord made them all.
I grew up reciting the above poem in church and at school.
As a girl, I was brought up in a loving environment that was full of moral values. I am grateful for this.
Having to attend boarding school at an early age made me independent at an early age though it was such a huge challenge. The friends I surrounded myself with played a huge role in keeping me focused on my mission and vision. This has enabled me to live life to the full, making wise choices along the way.
I am thankful to the Lord who created man and woman.
In every woman is a seed waiting to be planted, nurtured and maintained. Women who receive love, compassion, respect, dignity and warmth excel in life. Knowing you are appreciated opens another chapter in your life.
Every morning, begin the day by appreciating yourself and loving your inner beauty that will allow you to shine, as you bloom.

Do not fear to explore careers and fields that have traditionally been a preserve of me; challenge the woman in you. Believe that You Can do whatever you set your mind on.
Never be ashamed of who you are, where you come from, or your perceived failures. You are a reflection of your roots.
Wake up in the morning with a melodic song on your lips as you get ready for the day; look in the mirror and tell yourself, ”I’m beautiful and ready to rumble.” Learn to love yourself and embrace the woman inside of you. Never compromise yourself.
Always believe in your potential. Find people to keep you grounded. Connect with yourself and your spirituality.
Find balance for your career and relationships.
Ke leboga koko,Ntatemogolo (Thank you grandma, grandpa, and my parents). You made me the woman I am now. I’m grateful to have been born in South Africa, a country pregnant with possibilities.
