DISCOP AFRICA 4, that holds September 1-3, 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya, shall support young film judges and media students through two partnerships that focus on educating young professionals.
Among those who shall take part in the programme will be seven children and youth from the Lola Kenya Screen audiovisual media initiative for children and youth in Eastern Africa. The seven are Vanessa Wanjiku, Alexander Kinyanjui, Simon Onyango, Adima Mesa, Adede Hawi, Tracy Muringa and Wangari Mumbi Kiarie. They will be led by Lola Kenya Screen festival manager and mentor Bethsheba Achitsa. All the seven children have served on the various juries of Lola Kenya Screen. They will attend the DISCOP Africa’s DISCOPRO screening session and meet with Sellers of Children’s programmes.
Also participating in the programme will be students from Daystar University from which some of the participating TV programming managers have obtained their training.

“These students will join us on Friday, September 3, 2010 to get an inside vision of the TV market and help build their skills as they prepare to enter the TV industry,” says Cherise Barsell, DISCOP Africa Executive Manager. “We look forward to working with them and we hope to see them all again at future editions of DISCOP AFRICA as Buyers and Producers!”
