A six-film, three-day Brazilian festival has opened in Alliance Francaise, Nairobi, on October 1, 2013.
Presented by the Embassy of Brazil in Kenya, the films on exhibition were made between 2000 and 2012.The films, all full length, are scheduled to run at 5.30pm and 7.30pm on October 1, October 3 and October 4.
The films on show are GOD IS BRAZILIAN (110 minutes, 2003) by Carlos Diegues, GONZAGA, FATHER AND SON (130 minutes, 2012) by Breno Silveira,THE CLOWN (88 minutes, 2003) by Breno Silveira, MASTER BUILDING (110 minutes, 2002) by Eduardo Coutinho, A DOG’S WILL (114 minutes, 2000) by Guel Arraes, and NO MORE BLUES (105 minutes, 2008) by Lais Bodansky.
Meanwhile news from the Nigerian commercial capital, Lagos, indicate that HALF OF A YELLOW SUN has been withdrawn from the third edition of Africa International Film Festival scheduled for November 10-17, 2013 in Tinapa, Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria.
HALF OF A YELLOW SUN, the Screen adaptation of critically acclaimed novel by The Orange Prize-winning Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, was to have made its African premiere at the third AFRIFF as the opening movie.
Ikenna Ezenyirioha, Content and Community Manager at AFRIFF, says the film has been withdrawn without any elaboration.
