oscar winner lupita nyong'o

She is the most famous Kenyan at the moment; for the right reasons: Her hard work has given her a string of most coveted international awards in her screen role over the past three months. She has just crowned it with an Oscar. She dreamed. She prayed. She studied. She worked hard. At 30, she has joined the stars and become one of them. OGOVA ONDEGO writes.

We at ArtMatters.Info celebrate Mexico-born, USA-trained and USA-based Kenyan. We congratulate Lupita Nyong’o for winning an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (The Oscars) award (the Oscar) for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Patsey the abused slave in 12 YEARS A SLAVE directed by Steve McQueen. lupita in hollywood

Lupita Nyong’s success cannot be taken for granted. It has come from hard work. And training. She has been both behind and in front of the camera. She has acted. She has written. She has directed. She has produced. And she has interned with some of the best film initiatives.

With a Bachelor’ degree in Film and Theatre Studies from Hampshire College and a Master’s degree from Yale’s School of Drama, Nyong’o is a professional in screen and stage arts. And, hopefully, an inspiration to many Kenyan and African artists.
