A 22-day exhibition of paintings by emerging artists has just begun at Nairobi National Museum’s Creativity Gallery.
Titled Emergence and featuring the work of Manasses Miano, Reuben Anduvate and Ron Enoch Lukes, the show runs April 11 through May 2, 2015.
Each of the three artists holds a diploma in Fine Arts and Design from Kenyatta University.
Manasses Miano and Ron Enoch Lukes specialise in realism and surrealism.
While the latter’s work is influenced by wildlife, nature and socio-cultural factors, Reuben Anduvate’s work is based on culture and nature.
Nairobi Art Centre in Lavington Green, on the other hand, is till May 2, 2015 running classes in Drawing and Painting for children and adults.
Among the areas to be covered are Pre-Instruction Drawing, Rules of portraiture, Perception to Drawing, Single and Double Point Perspective, Colour Wheel Theory, Still Life Painting, Landscape Painting and Mixed Media Painting, among others.
Participation fee is Sh2,200 (half day) and Sh3,500 (full day) for the course that runs 9.00AM-3.30PM.
Opening at Alliance Francaise in the Nairobi CBD on April 16, 2015 is an exhibition of cartoons by 27 artists from nine countries. The work examines whether it is possible to have both freedom and security in today’s world whose struggle against terrorism poses a threat to freedom of expression.

The exhibition, that is curated by Nairobi cartoonist and blogger, Patrick Gathara, is organised by Alliance Francaise and Buni Media, the producers of the television political satire show, XYZ.
