Writers of published long fiction in Africa have till August 27, 2015 to submit their debut publication for consideration by Etisalat Prize for Literature.
Etisalat, a Nigeria-based telecommunications company, announced the call for entries for its 3rd Etisalat Prize for Literature, that it says is “the first ever Pan African prize celebrating debut African writers of published fiction” on June 18, 2015.

“Etisalat Prize for Literature,” says Matthew Willsher, Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat Nigeria, “serves as a platform for the discovery of new creative writing talents out of the African continent.”
To be considered, entries must be a writer’s first work of fiction of more than 30,000 words, and published within the last 24 months.

According to an Etisalat Media Release, the winner of the award receives a cash prize of £15,000 in addition to a fellowship at University of East Anglia and a sponsored three-city book tour.
The winners of the first two editions of Etisalat Prize for Literature were Zimbabwe’s NoViolet Bulawayo with her debut novel, We Need New Names; and South Africa’s Songeziwe Mahlangu with the novel, Penumbra.
