Fashion designers interested in showcasing their creativity at the 8th Swahili Fashion Week in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, have till August 31, 2015 to send in their applications.

Application forms for both Emerging Designers Competition and Designer Participation in the annual platform for fashion and accessory designers from Kiswahili-speaking countries to showcase their talent, market their creativity and network with clients and the international fashion industry and that is scheduled for December 4-6, 2015 may be downloaded from swahilifashionweek.com.
The Emerging Designers Competition requires the applicant to draw a sketch on the theme ‘Luxury Innovated’ on an A4-size Storyboard and attach it to “fabric swatches and a short biography and a brief motivation or inspiration of [their] sketch” which should then be sent to Swahili Fashion Week by August 31, 2015 at 09.00 GMT.
The application for Designer Participants, on the other hand, should carry three images in high resolution which best portray their work, a brief biography in Microsoft Word, and a paragraph as to why they should showcase at the 8th Swahili Fashion Week.The Deadline for submission of applications Designer Participants is August 20, 2015 at 9.00 GMT.

Among the aims of the event that was founded by Tanzanian fashion designer, Mustafa Hassanali, in 2008, are to promote ‘Made-in-East-Africa’ fashion brands, propagate the business Of fashion, improve the quality and output of fashion design from East Africa, provide a platform for up-and-coming designers in the region, and create opportunities for East African products in the African Diaspora.
