Elaine Nesbitt participates in in a Lola Kenya Screen animation film workshop in 2006An annual film festival that draws attention of the audience to the importance of the art of animation every February invites short animation films made in 2014 and 2015 for its next edition.

Organised by Cultural Development Fund and Egyptian Animation Society, the 9th Forum of Animated Films—February 18-24, 2016—is receiving films for consideration till December 20, 2015.

Saying the “Forum honours outstanding artists working in the animated films industry every year,” the organisers say they have five categories of competition–Students’ Projects; Animated Films; Animated Series; Innovative Trial; Long Feature Animated Films; Animated Commercials, and Film and Series Credits–and award money and medals for every first and second prize winners in all categories of works in competition.

Among the objectives of the festival that says it shows works with English subtitles on DVD and prefers non-dialogue films, are helping develop artistic taste of the audience and people from the animated film industry as well as exchanging experience through meeting with foreign cultures, facilitating cooperation and communication at the Egyptian, Arabic and international level, supporting the development of artistic and technical skills of young directors, and opening up of new markets for companies and producers working in this field to exchange works and experience.
