Kenya Airways (KQ) has become the first airline with flights departing Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at midnight.
KQ flies to the French capital, Paris, shortly after midnight every Tuesday and Thursday.
“Be aware when your ticket reads departure as 10th May, 2016 actually means you have to check in on the eve of 10th May, that is 9th May night,” Let’s Go Travel agency of Nairobi advises travellers departing on the KQ flights at 00:20 hours.
“We haven’t had midnight flights in Nairobi but since the renovation of the JKIA runway,” Let’s Go Travel explains, “possibilities of more flights after midnight are very likely to increase.”

Terminal 2 of JKIA, to which many international airlines relocated, was completed and opened 12 months ago. The renovation was aimed at making JKIA a world class airport with modern amenities and enhanced security. This, among other things, was to make it possible for direct flights between Kenya and United States of America.
Titus Naikuni, the then Group Managing Director and CEO of KQ, Kenya’s flag-bearer, had said, “All these improvements are geared towards ensuring the comfort of passengers travelling to and from Nairobi, and those connecting through the facility. We are at full operations and the airport is safe with facilities in place to facilitate seamless processing of transfers.â€
A year later, Kenya’s national carrier, KQ, has a midnight flight for Paris, every Tuesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, British Airways (BA) has announced what it calls “High Season Special Fares”. The Club sale period is from May 5-21, 2016 while World Traveller Plus and World Traveller sale period is May 5-31, 2016 .
The travel period for these High Season Special Fares is from now to December 31, 2016.
