African writers are invited to submit their poetry books published in 2015 for a US$5000 prize.
African Poetry Book Fund (APBF), the University of Nebraska-based organisers of the Glenna Luschei Prize for African Poetry 2016 say the literary prize “is open to any book of original poetry published in 2015, written by an African.”

APBF define an ‘African writer’ as “someone who was born in Africa, who is a national or resident of an African country, or whose parents are Africans.”
Though APBF say “Only poetry submissions in English can be considered,” they nevertheless “welcome published works of translation for consideration.”
There is no entry fee but an entry form is required for each title submitted.

“The Glenna Luschei Prize for African Poetry was established to recognize a significant book published each year by an African poet, and is the only prize of its kind in the world,” APBF say.
