A three-month digital art exhibition that is expected to take audiences on a journey of more than four centuries of heroes and legends of a country the British colonised and named Kenya opens in Nairobi in November.
Titled Shujaa (Hero) Stories, the launch of the art show that shall be held in Creativity Gallery of Nairobi National Museum (NNM) is scheduled for November 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM.

“This colourful, captivating and intriguing exhibition will be of particular interest to the younger generation as the artwork is set to bring out the legends’ magical and superhero qualities,” a statement from NNM says.”Every year we set aside one day to celebrate our heroes and legends through Mashujaa Day. This year, we would like to extend this one day event to a 3 month digital art exhibition that will take our audiences through a journey of over 400 years of Kenya’s legends before 1920s. ”
Presiding over the event shall be Muthoni Likimani who has worked as a writer, publisher, teacher and broadcaster for more than 65 years.

Shujaa Stories that looks at Kenya’s legends before 1920 when the East African territory became a British colony is the initiative of National Museums of Kenya in collaboration with Tatu Creatives.
Meanwhile, an art talk titled ‘From Hope to Reality’ with Margaret Halpin of the Art in Kibera programme whose ongoing exhibition at NNM ends on October 31, shall be held on October 24, 2018 at 10:00 AM in NNM’s Temporary Gallery.

Also coming up at NNM is Kenya Museum Society (KMS)’s annual fundraising Affordable Art sale on October 27 – 28, 2018.
Inviting lovers, buyers and collectors of art to the sale touted as being ‘The biggest art event in East Africa’, KMS says more than 300 pieces of art shall be available for sale and that the ‘funds raised support the National Museums of Kenya’.
