Sebastian Mikosz, Group Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Airways, says direct flights fit within Kenya Airways' strategy to attract corporate and high-end tourism traffic from the world to Kenya and AfricaKenya Airways has reached an agreement with Delta Airlines to provide travellers greater connectivity and efficiency in 11 US and 4 Canadian cities besides ‘opening opportunities for tourism, trade and investment‘.

Kenya Airways, that launched direct flight from Nairobi to New York in October 2018, says the “arrangement is an opportunity for travellers to connect from New York, using the direct flight from Nairobi, to other cities within the US and Canada, opening many more opportunities at more competitive fares.”

In a statement issued to the media in Nairobi on April 11, Sebastian Mikosz, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Airways says the agreement “will open up opportunities for our customers to access more destinations in North America through the John F. Kennedy Airport.”

Kenya Airways says it is from June 2019 increasing the frequency of its flights to New York from five to seven days a week ‘to open more opportunities for travellers to take advantage of this route during this high season’.

The destinations available in the Kenya Airways operated by DELTA codeshare from New York are:

  • Charlotte – North Carolina(USA)
  • Chicago O’Hare – Illinois (USA)
  • Denver – Colorado (USA)
  • Miami – Florida (USA)
  • Orlando – Florida (USA)
  • Phoenix– Arizona (USA)
  • Raleigh/Durham – North Carolina (USA), and
  • Toronto – Ontario (Canada).

Subject to government and regulatory approvals, Kenya Airways says, the following destinations will also be covered:

  • Houston – Texas (USA)
  • Philadelphia – Pennsylvania (USA)
  • Columbus – Ohio (USA)
  • Kansas City – Missouri (USA)
  • Toronto – Ontario (Canada)
  • Montreal – Quebec (Canada)
  • Ottawa – Ontario (Canada), and
  • Edmonton – Alberta (Canada).
