At Kenya’s attainment of political independence from Britain in 1963, founding President Jomo Kenyatta identified poverty, ignorance and disease as the BIG 3 Challenges to nationhood that his Government was set on tackling.

Some 57 years later, Kenya, like the rest of the world, is faced by a more vicious enemy called CoronaVirus Disease (COVID-19) that must be tackled with haste before it kills all humans, destroys livelihoods and disrupts all social order.

That knowledge gives humans the power to tackle just about anything is a given. Consequently, the World Health Organization (WHO) of the United Nations has published online training material to support individuals, communities and countries around the globe in responding to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Physical distancing, washing of hands, wearing of face masks and social isolation may be some of the ways in which to combat COVID-19 if well executed. However, they are not enough and so WHO has produced five modules for anyone and everyone in the world to get involved in fighting COVID-19.

1). A general introduction to emerging respiratory viruses, including novel coronaviruses
2). Clinical Care for Severe Acute Respiratory Infections
3). Health and safety briefing for respiratory diseases
4). Infection Prevention and Control for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and
5). COVID-19 Operational Planning Guidelines and COVID-19 Partners Platform to support country preparedness and response.
