Basic Lead, the organisers of the event known as DISCOP, say holding the event in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, is important at a time when the central African country of 12.5 million people currently chairs the International Organization de la Francophonie which represents 84 countries where French is spoken.
Saying “sports entertainment will take center stage for three weeks overlapping the 25th edition of the DISCOP market in Africa”, Basic Lead say the fulcrum of everything shall be “delivering high-performance face-to-face meetings centered on the sale and purchase of:
- Distribution, adaptation, branding and merchandising rights
- Content monetization, dubbing and delivery solutions, and
- Entertainment and sports marketing know-how.

“Through a series of webinars and live presentations, DISCOP Kigali will also spotlight Rwanda’s audiovisual and manufacturing sectors and the country’s various incentives available to content producers as well as to pop-culture brands seeking to produce and ship branded goods out of Africa,” the organisers say. “Finally, during the 3-day market itself, a program of topical screenings and live discussions will explore the power of faith-based and gospel entertainment across Africa. Following the pandemic, there has been a boom in inspirational programming that explores the big questions of life.”
