The 25th edition of the annual DISCOP Africa is scheduled for December 12 – 14, 2021 in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.
Basic Lead Inc, the organisers of DISCOP Africa film, television, digital content distribution and co-production market say the three-day event will focus on Intra-African trade.

An estimated 500 participants are expected to represent global entertainment brands, independent producers, regional resellers, broadcasters, premium cable channels, mobile operators, online platforms, theatrical exhibitors and closed-circuit networks operating in sub-Saharan Africa at the event.
“A virtual opening ceremony will kick off DISCOP Kigali on Sunday, 12 December,” DISCOP Africa says. “The ceremony will feature keynote lectures bringing to light gender equality initiatives to grow female participation in sports journalism.”

“Intertwined in the overall programme, a live series of workshop and pitching sessions regrouped under the DISCOPRO label will reflect the growing importance of relations between Anglophone and Francophone Africa in the context of entertainment segments with strong export potential: Animation feature films, scripted and unscripted formats, and original television series,” DISCOP Africa says.
Basic Lead Inc says ‘DISCOP Kigali will co-locate with Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2021) that runs in Kigali December 8-14 ‘to better spotlight Africa’s multimedia industriessays To expand networking opportunities beyond its core 500+ delegates’.

“To build awareness until then, a ‘one-stop’ immersion programme (CANEX) planned by the Government of the Republic of Rwanda, the African Export-Import Bank and the African Union will lead up to both events and dive into issues critical to building a viable African cultural and creative ecosystem. The program will include a series of webcasts to begin on 26 April and high-level live conference sessions to be held in the Rwandan Capital before the 3-day DISCOP Kigali market.”
Basic Lead Inc says DISCOP Kigali shall partner with Mashariki African Film Festival in Kigali (December 10 – 17, 2021) as it positions itself as ‘the only truly bilingual film festival bridging a new generation of filmmakers and producers from Anglophone and Francophone Africa. Pitching, learning and B2B market access opportunities will be provided to qualified festival attendees in the context of DISCOP Kigali’.
