A film festival that says it is’committed to supporting emerging talent and providing fun, original and thought-provoking cinematic experiences‘ has pitched tent in Nyeri on the slopes of Mount Kenya.
The festival, known as Out of Africa International Film Festival (OOAIFF) and that marks its 8th edition in 2023, shall be held at Dedan Kimathi University of Technology on January 19 – 22, 2023.

OOAIFF says it is not only the first ever film festival to be held in Nyeri County but that it ‘showcases experimental moving image and educational events, interacting across the spectrum of the creative Industries: film, music, visual art and media industry’.

“OOAIFF’s goal is to focus on the art of filmmaking in the purest sense by presenting the best independent genre films from around the world and shining a spotlight on local filmmakers, especially those new to the film festival experience. We also feature students’ films at the festival. We are proud that our event continues to serve an important role in supporting and sharing the current growth of film production. OOAIFF has an essential role in putting the hosting city/town on the national and international cultural map. It also has been a key player in building a sense of community,” OOAIFF says in a Press Statement.
