Please inform all aviation carriers operating to South Africa that ordinary passport holders of the Republic of Kenya will not be required to be in possession of port of entry visa for a period not exceeding 90 days per calendar year. 
The visa exemption entered into force on 01 January 2023. The Department's website has been updated to this effect. The link is dha.gov.za/index.php/immigration-services/exempt-countries/.South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has issued guidelines on Kenyans’ free visa-entry to the southern African country.

The following are some of strict requirements which should be observed:

  • Passport must have at least one full unused VISA page for entry / departure stamping. (Endorsement pages of passport not counted as free pages)
  • A passport or travel document valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of your intended visit
  • A valid yellow-fever vaccination certificate. (10 Days maturity).

  • If you have children (minors) travelling with you or joining in South Africa, you will need to provide the following additional documents
    · Proof of guardianship or custody or
    · Consent from the guardian in the case of an unaccompanied minor.
  • Sufficient funds to pay for your day-to-day expenses during your stay.
  • A must to have a valid return or onward ticket.
  • Randomly a guest may be subjected to immigration interviews at the airport of entry.”
