Dr Kavirondo is a historical fictional or fictional historical novel featuring mysticism, psychology and pitting the living against the living dead.Writer David G Maillu is about to undertake a gruelling 120-km walk from his rural home in Makueni County to Nairobi City Centre to bring attention to what he terms as the sad plight of teachers, medical doctors and police officers in an attempt to force the Government of Kenya to act on their welfare.

To usher in the walk shall be the launch of two books titled Dr Kavirondo (featuring mysticism, human psychology, the living versus the dead) and The Haves and the Have Nots (tracing the evolution of corruption and impunity) that, respectively, are based on the Luo and the Kikuyu communities that he says are a case study of contemporary Kenya.

Maillu, who says he holds a Doctor of Letters (Lit.D) degree in African Literature and Political Philosophy from St Clements University in Australia and plans to run for President in Kenya’s general elections scheduled for August 2027, shall during the walk from Kola village on the border of Machakos and Makueni counties in eastern Kenya, discuss his 10-point document he refers to as The Manifesto of Social Revolution.

The Haves and the Have-Nots fictional historical (or is it historical fiction?) novel is a tale of the genesis of Kenya's cancerous culture of tribalism, cronyism, corruption and impunityAmong the issues addressed in The Manifesto of Social Revolution by the 87-year-old Maillu who also doubles up as President of African Spirituality are lawlessness, corruption, landlessness, failed education system, unemployment, dysfunctional family system, backbreaking foreign debt, high cost of living, drug abuse and lack of industrial creativity.

The writer suggests that while landlessness could be addressed by reclaiming all illegally acquired public land and corruption addressed through dismissal of civil servants and their property repossessed, an audit of the escalating foreign should be done and repaid with proceeds of corruption stashed in foreign accounts that should be repatriated to Kenya.

Maillu wonders how Kenya, with a population of 50 million people can have 350 Members of Parliament while USA, with a population of 335 million has just 433 Parliamentarians.

“The Government should cut down the extravagance of legislative overrepresentation in both devolved and national government, do away with 47 Woman Representatives and reduce the number of parliamentarians to 240 and devolved units from 47 to 12,”Maillu, who is also the writer of Pathways: 50 Years of Independent Kenya, says.
