Filmmakers from Africa and the world over have until April 15, 2012 to submit their creative feature length or short films to the 7th edition of the annual Lola Kenya Screen film Festival.
The submission period that opened on December 1, 2011 has so far received inspiring films from England, Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia and Rwanda. Filmmakers with productions that star children and youth are highly encouraged to submit their productions.
An annual showcase of emerging talent from all over the world this year’s theme focuses on renewed efforts in finding creative and sustainable ways of learning and building capacity among young film practitioners.
A highly interactive and informative festival, LKS will provide a platform for artists, researchers, journalists and anyone with a stake in the audiovisual media industry come together to network and exchange ideas as well as engage in dialogue.
The festival which seeks to be all-inclusive and accessible will hold performances and workshops at various venues in Nairobi, Kenya.

Filmmakers with films that have children (6-13 years) as the stars of the film will be eligible to compete in the Golden Mboni award competition that recognises creative products. This year winning films will be part of the fortnight community outreach mobile cinema component that seeks to introduce dwellers of informal settlements in Nairobi to good quality film while providing the filmmakers a chance to reach to new audiences.
Held since the inaugural Lola Kenya Screen the Golden Mboni award has been won by emerging talents as well as established filmmakers from Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Slated for August 6-11, 2012, the festival shall also include the skill development program targeting children 6-18 years and youth 19-25. Children and youth interested in developing their creative and cultural entrepreneurship skills and showcasing their films at Africa’s first audiovisual media event EXCLUSIVELY designed for children and youth to send in their applications before April 15, 2012.

Lola Kenya Screen is a global movement established in October 2005 to explore, identify and nurture talent among children and youth in journalism, filmmaking, arts appreciation, organisation & presentation of events and media literacy.
