Oslo, the Norwegian capital, was the most expensive tourism city in 2013 just as Sofia, Bulgaria, was the most affordable.
The ranking, by travel website TripAdvisor, is based on the total average cost of one night’s accommodation for two people at a four-star hotel, cocktails, a two-course dinner with a bottle of wine, and return taxi fares over a 3.2 kilometre route.
The TripAdvisor TripIndex Cities examined 49 cities that receive the largest number of international visitor arrivals according to data compiled by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
