A book that suggests possible ways of seeking and maintaining peace in Kenya has been published.
(Re)Membering Kenya, Vol. 2, the publication that was launched on January 24, 2014 at Goethe-Institut in Nairobi,focuses on issues such as governance and marginalisation.
Like the first volume that focused on identity, culture and freedom, this one is also based on public lectures that brought together participants from universities, civil society and the general public to discuss what led to the violence that rocked Kenya after a disputed presidential poll in December 2007 and to suggest possible ways of avoiding such an eventuality in future.
The book is edited by George Gona and Mbugua wa Mungai and published by Twaweza Communications in collaboration with Ford Foundation and Goethe-Institut.
Meanwhile, another publication–Invisible: Stories from Kenya’s Queer Community by Kevin Mwachiro–shall be launched later this evening. This book on sexual orientation and gender identity is published in collaboration with the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and the Gay Kenya Trust, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.
