tshedi mholo's victory launch promo posterAn album that took four years in the works is being launched in the South African commercial capital, Johannesburg, on November 7, 2014.

The launch of ‘Victory’, the 13-track album that was released in October 2013,is set to kick-start the solo career of Florence Matshediso Mholo (popularly known in music circles as Tshedi Mholo) who was catapulted to the limelight in South Africa in 2004 when she teamed up with the late Jabu Ndaba and Bongani Nchang in forming Malaika group that went on to become a national phenomenon on the South African music scene through multi Platinum-selling albums that won many coveted awards.

Now, 10 years later, Tshedi Mholo, who is pursuing a career as a solo artist, says she worked tirelessly for four years on the ‘Victory’ album whose  launch at the Roodepoort Theatre in Jozi in the evening of November 7, 2014 shall be “a milestone towards my victorious journey.”

Tickets to the event, going for ZAR150 per head, can be purchased online at roodepoorttheatre.com.

“The launch, to be held in the main theatre, will begin at 19:00 and the first 100 people to purchase tickets will receive goodie bags,” Tshedi told ArtMatters.Info.

Saying she managed the whole process of the recording of the Victory album, Tshedi says, “I brought together some of the best music experts in the music industry—Sipho Sithole, Robbie Malinga and Mojalefa Thebe, Guffy Pilani, Thaso, The Duo, The Fareinheitz from Angola and Dj Choice—to realise my dream.”

“Victory is my best work ever,” says the songwriter, composer, producer, singer and actress who is playing herself as a depressed fallen star in Ga Re Dumele comedy series that airs on SABC-TV on October 19, 2014. “I gave it my all and have worked with the best songwriters and established hit makers. Through the 10 years of my life as a professional musician, the challenges and obstacles I have encountered have been set aside resulting in this amazing personal achievement.”

And what has she been up to since October 14, 2013 when she released Victory?

tshedi mholo performs“I have been busy with my own business, The Leopard Queen Network, dealing with events’ management,” she says. “I have also been keeping myself busy with performing songs in various provinces and cities in South Africa.”

Soon after playing her role as a Choir Master on the well loved and enjoyed South African choir competition TV show, ‘Clash Of The Choirs’ season 2, Mholo’s country’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) selected her to be part of the Global Summit for Women that was held in Paris, France, in June 2014.

She says the launch of Victory shall also “benefit up-and-coming artists and all other staff members who will be involved in this production as this event will provide them all a platform to showcase their works in a professional environment. Therefore, the Victory Album Launch will provide opportunities for job creation, empowerment and development for all the relevant people who will be involved in the production.”
