Egypt-based Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) is set to announce three African film projects it shall support to the tune of US$5000 each during the closing ceremony of its 4th annual edition on March 21, 2015.

The projects to be supported shall be selected from among 14 from eight countries that were submitted to the ETISAL Fund’s STEP programme for consideration.
In a media statement issued by Sayed Fouad, Director of LAFF on February 28, 2015, LAFF said the management of the ETISAL Fund had announced the details of STEP Programme to support African feature films, especially the first or second feature by a director.
Fouad listed five of the 14 projects he said had been submitted for consideration as having come from Namibia, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco and Nigeria.
The jury, Fouad said, had ‘decided to support five projects in the development workshop with French expert Isabelle Fauvel for two weeks starting from March 1.’

The projects to be developed in the workshop are:
1. NINE LETTERS to be directed by Philbert Mbabazi (Rwanda)
2. DISCO AFRICA to be directed by Luck Razanajaona (Madagascar)
3. MERCY OF THE JUNGLE to be directed by Joel Karekezi (Rwanda)
4. SRATING TIME to be directed by Yasser Shefeie (Egypt)
5. THE PUPPETMASTER to be directed by Nermin Salem (Egypt).
The statement added that Azza Elhosseiny, Director of ETISAL Fund, had announced that the jury would choose three final projects to support to the tune of US$5 000 “in the development and pre-production phase.
