A specialised post-graduate degree course for public policy practitioners in Africa has been launched in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Master of Research and Public Policy (MRPP) course that is said to have been developed over a three-year period by a non-governmental organisation known as Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) and 12 African universities “with with input from scholars from respected European public policy institutions”, is promoted as being “uniquely designed to meet the continent’s needs.”
The two-year full time course is expected prepare students for careers in Government, universities, think tanks, research organisations, civil society organisations, media and development agencies, according a PASGR media release issued through African Press Organization of Lausanne, Switzerland, on August 13, 2015.

“The programme has already been rolled out in eight universities where 150 have enrolled, with the first cohort set to graduate next year,” PASGR says.
MRPP is already “being offered in Egerton and Maseno universities in Kenya; University of Dar es Salaam and Mzumbe in Tanzania; Jos and Ibadan universities in Nigeria; and Ugandan Christian and Ugandan Martyrs universities,” PASGR says.
