A multi-platform broadcaster that focuses on African news has hired an editor to take care of its business desk.
BBC World Service’s BBC Africa hub, that brings together the production of multilingual content about the continent on radio, on TV and online, has hired Larry Madowo who just left Nation TV of Nairobi, to take care of its business unit.

BBC says the appointment of Madowo, who was born in Siaya in western Kenya in 1987, is part of its ‘continuing expansion in TV and Digital Video content for audiences in Africa, including new business programmes’.
Larry Madowo, who reported to his new work station on April 11, 2018, says he looks “forward to amplifying stories about entrepreneurship, ingenuity and innovation that I’ve witnessed as I have travelled all over Africa. I grew up admiring the quality of journalism the BBC produces around the world and it is an honour to be a part of a bold new team that will tell authentic African stories for audiences across multiple platforms.”

Saying Larry Madowo is a ‘well-known Kenyan journalist who has previously hosted his own radio show, written a weekly newspaper column and fronted many popular TV programmes’, Solomon Mugera, Regional Editor for BBC News Africa says, Madowo “will be key in leading our new focus on business news and how it affects the lives of ordinary Africans.”
BBC World Service says its broadcasts on radio, TV and online reach a global audience of 269 million every week. Its BBC Africa hub delivers content in languages as diverse as Afaan Oromo, Amharic, English, French, Hausa, Igbo, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Pidgin, Somali, Tigrinya, Kiswahili and Yoruba.
