People from across the world are expected to celebrate diverse forms of arts across Africa virtually and physically in a maiden cultural festival just before Christmas Day.
The organisers of the inaugural Abuja Fringe Festival in Nigeria’s political capital have lined up film screenings, conversations, dance, theatre, workshops, panel discussions, book readings, and art exhibitions across multiple venues over a four-day period.

Among the highlights of the Abuja Fringe Festival that runs December 17 – 20, they say,include ‘Nollywood Yesterday Film Screenings and Conversations with Ego Boyo and Charles Novia’. KEEPING FAITH and MISSING ANGEL, two movies from the 2000s (that’s 20 years ago today!) shall be screened daily to culminate in a conversation with the filmmakers on the last day of the festival on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

“We also have some festival programmes that will focus on learning through a series of conversations, workshops and networking events all related to the festival theme, ‘Redefining Possibilities’, for participants as well as the general public,” the organisers say a statement to the media.
The special festival programmes include workshops on Creative Writing, dance, acting and filmmaking and panel discussions titled Developing Your International Career and Arts And Health.
Abuja Fringe Festival will hold across multiple venues in the Federal Capital Territory including the Sync Hub, Krump Studios, Fraisers Suites, The Korean Cultural Centre, Abuja Arts Council Mini Theatre (Area 1) and Virtually on Zoom, they say.

“In line with strict adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols, only participants wearing nose masks will be allowed into the venue,” they stress. “Workshops and panel discussions can be attended online via the ZOOM APP (Zoom links will be sent to registered participants only).
