The Adventure That Was The Chale Island TriathlonIt feels like ages ago but its only been a fortnight or so since we stood at the Chale Harbour in Kwale County on the East African Indian Ocean Coast for the inaugural Chale Island Triathlon.

With an afternoon kick off under the cool coastal skies of Kwale County, the event brought together 87 triathletes both young and old for a beautiful 1KM open water swim, 30KM off road bike and 7.5KM run. The swim saw participants enjoy the cool and calm waters of the Chale Channel at high tide followed by a scenic ride through Kinondo and Bora Bora hinterlands and down into the sugar plantations of Ramisi. The athletes took on the 7.5KM run on ‘Chale Road’ in the glistening orange evening sun to cap off an exciting adventure.
