A month-long art exhibition titled ‘What’s New Under the Sun’ opens at Nairobi National Museum (NNM)’s Temporary Exhibition Hall on March 30, 2014 and runs through April 30, 2014.
Though Ecclesiastes 1:9 says “What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,and there is nothing new under the sun,” this exhibition appears to be based on a journey of self discovery by youngsters.
The exhibition, NNM says, is a result of cooperation between pupils from Poland’s Middle School in Tomice and eight schools in Kenya’s Mathare Valley in Nairobi.

“Thirty-five pupils participated in a series of educational workshops during which time they had a chance to know one another, to work in tandem on the same topic and to answer same questions–Who am I? What do we need to have to go on a journey together? and How do we express our emotions?”, a statement from NNM says.
The works which came out of these workshops are what forms the basis of the Polish-Kenyan exhibition that opened at NNM on 30.03.14 at 2.00PM.

The artworks on show were created in varying settings: disused building in Mathare, NNM, Seweryn Udziela Ethnographic Museum in Krakow, and Polish Nobel Laureate Secondary School in Tomice.
The exhibition shall be accompanied by two art workshops for students, NNM says.
